50 percent of Government Schools lack basic infrastructure facilities
Almost 25 thousand Schools do not have proper toilets for girls.

According to the analytical report launched by Karnataka State education Department almost 25 thousand Government schools are lacking the basic Infrastructure facilities.
The report based on the District information system for education (D.I.S.E.) shows that out of fifty – thousand Government Schools almost 5o percent lack one or the other basic facility. These comprise School Compound, toilets, Playground, libraries, drinking water, electricity, etc.

“Mr. Patil, The Joint Commissioner, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan said “managing with nearly 33 education districts with about two hundred and two blocks and nearly about two thousand seven hundred cluster centers it is very difficult to manage and plan for the Schools, but all these gaps are now on the way to be completed and definitely it’s going to be bridged totally. May be another one year, all these infrastructure wise, facility wise will be 100 percent achieving things.”

H.N. Geetha, in charge Head Master, Yashwantapura Government School found the need of more efforts from Government side and said “ The Government to give some more attention towards these problems, there is a lack of infrastructure. School building, Electricity, Computer education, along with the basic facilities even the other infrastructure facilities are also needed.”

Parents are worried about their children not getting proper. Vimla has all six of her children in Government School. She said, “There is no proper drinking water, electricity, not even a proper education, many a times due to the polluted School water my children fall sick.”
Although Government has accepted its limitations but we are yet to see the steps it is going to take to overcome these limitations.
